Use AI as an assistant: generate presentation drafts, annotate code snippets, or propose initial layout ideas, then have students critique and rework those suggestions. Require students to document what AI produced and what they changed.
Never let AI replace learning core skills: manual sketching, structural reasoning, or CADD modeling. Teach AI as a tool for iterations and research, not a final designer.

Show you can do the tasks: run feasibility or environmental impact studies, gather environmental sustainability data, and calculate energy savings by comparing your design to baseline standards. Build a portfolio with a project that models energy use and savings.
Offer a module where students do operating and maintenance manuals and a simple energy-savings calc. Use real tools and reports—CADD models plus documented calculations—to prove you can teach the subject.
They overlap but aren’t identical. An architect or naval engineer practices design and construction: they develop construction plans, administer contracts, inspect sites, or ensure vessel compliance with regulations. A design educator teaches those skills, critiques student work, and prepares curricula and materials.
Educators may also do research or professional projects (feasibility studies, analyze floating structures), but their main job is teaching and mentoring, not running construction contracts or certifying vessels.
