Questions people actually ask

Your day starts with checking the MRI schedule in the appointment scheduling system and the radiology information system (RIS). You review physicians' orders in the electronic medical record (EMR) — for example, eClinicalWorks or another EHR — to confirm the prescribed exam and any contrast needs.

You spend most of the day operating MRI scanners, positioning patients, attaching physiological leads if needed, giving headphones or earplugs, monitoring patient safety during scans, and post-processing images. You also make backup copies of images, maintain supplies, assist clerical tasks, and talk with radiologists by teleradiology or RIS when questions arise.

AI can help with image post-processing (reconstruction, artifact reduction) but must be used under radiologist oversight. You still operate scanners, confirm image quality, and send images to PACS/Teleradiology; AI should not replace that human check.

Never use AI to make diagnostic decisions, change physician orders, or bypass safety checks. Document when AI tools were used in post-processing and follow your department's policies and the radiologist's instructions.
