Real questions

honest answers

Even with 3 people, staff issues can eat your time, money, and peace. You don’t need corporate HR, but you do need basic clarity: who does what, how you pay, what is allowed, what is not, and how you handle problems. A few simple written rules, a basic attendance and salary record, and clear joining/exit steps will prevent most drama. Think of it as tightening a leaking tap — boring work once, silent savings every month.

Money matters, but people don’t leave only for ₹500–1000. They leave when work feels messy, unfair, or dead-end. Check three things: one, are duties and timings clear and followed fairly for everyone; two, do you shout or insult when angry; three, is there any growth — slightly higher pay, better role, training. Use some of these tasks to fix basics: offer letters, clear rules, small reviews, and simple rewards. Once the shop feels stable and respectful, good staff stay longer even at normal salaries.

Most decent staff actually like clear rules; it protects them from random mood swings and blame. ‘Professional’ doesn’t mean rude; it means written, predictable, same for everyone. Yes, 1–2 people who enjoy chaos may leave, but they are usually the same ones who create cash leaks and attitude problems. If you explain rules calmly, give some notice before enforcing, and follow them yourself, you’ll attract and keep better-quality people. In a small business, a tight, clean team beats a bigger, loose one.
