I have three invoices and a receipts PDF that need to be filed as one record; merge them into a single file in invoice…
Open Adobe Acrobat.
Go to File > Combine Files.
Click Add Files and select the PDF files you want to merge.
Arrange the files in your desired order by dragging and dropping them within the list.
Click Combine to merge the selected files into a single PDF document.
Save the new combined PDF to your preferred location.
You can preview and reorder files before combining to ensure the final PDF is in the correct sequence.
This runs in the Acrobat app - there is no separate API for this task.
The 'Preserve Bookmarks' option keeps the bookmarks from each original file in your new combined PDF. This makes it easier to find and jump to each section or document inside the big PDF. It helps with navigation, especially if your files are long.
| Combining Files | Compressing PDF |
|---|---|
| Joins many files into one PDF | Makes a PDF smaller in file size |
| Order and bookmarks matter | Quality and image size may change |
| Files stay the same size after combine | Size gets smaller after compress |
