Create a standardized onboarding packet [file=PDF] template with sections: welcome, role checklist, mandatory training…
Open Adobe Acrobat.
Go to File > Combine Files.
Click Add Files and select the PDF files you want to merge.
Arrange the files in your desired order by dragging and dropping them within the list.
Click Combine to merge the selected files into a single PDF document.
Save the new combined PDF to your preferred location.
You can preview and reorder files before combining to ensure the final PDF is in the correct sequence.
This runs in the Acrobat app - there is no separate API for this task.
Preserve Bookmarks keeps the bookmarks from each file you combine. This means each document inside your new PDF will have its own top-level clickable link. It is useful because it helps you and others quickly find each part of the onboarding packet without scrolling through every page.
| Merging Files | Compressing PDF |
|---|---|
| Puts many files into one PDF | Makes the PDF file size smaller |
| Keeps all pages and bookmarks | Removes extra data, lowers quality if needed |
| Does not make the file smaller | Does not change the pages combined |
