This runs in the Acrobat app - there is no separate API for this task.
Acrobat shows 'Font not available' because the specific font used in the PDF is not installed on your computer. Even if the font is embedded in the PDF, your system still needs it to make changes. To fix this, you can install the missing font on your computer, activate it if it's an Adobe Font, or try to embed missing fonts using the 'Print Production' tool in Acrobat.
| Feature | Normal PDF | Scanned PDF |
|---|---|---|
| Editing Text | Directly editable, font information is present. | Requires OCR to convert image to editable text first. |
| Accuracy | High, no conversion errors. | Can have errors (e.g., '0' for 'O'), needs proofreading. |
| Layout | Usually stays the same. | Can shift after OCR; sometimes adding a text box is better. |
To ensure new text matches existing text, pay close attention to the font, size, and color. When you click to edit, Acrobat often tries to match these automatically. If it doesn't, manually select the correct font, size, and color from the editing toolbar. Using common fonts like Arial or Times New Roman can also help maintain a consistent look across the document.
