This runs in the Acrobat app - there is no separate API for this task.
In Adobe Acrobat, you can use the 'Optimize PDF' or 'Reduce File Size' tool to shrink several PDFs at once. You just select all the files you want, choose your settings, and Acrobat will make them smaller together.
Reducing the size of a PDF means making the file take up less storage space, which helps when sending by email or saving room on your device.
If you have many large PDFs, making them smaller all at once saves time and helps you share or store them more easily.
Reducing size one by one means you do each file separately, which takes more time. Batch reducing lets you do many files together, which is faster and easier.
Sometimes, making a PDF smaller can lower the quality of pictures or text. It's important to check your files after reducing them to make sure they still look good.
