When you open a scanned PDF in Acrobat, it will automatically run OCR to make the text editable. After OCR, you can click 'Edit' and then click the text to make changes. Always proofread the OCR output carefully, especially for numbers and names, as it can sometimes make mistakes.
Your edited text might look different if the new text does not match the original font, size, or color. To avoid this, try to use the same font, size, and color as the existing text when you make changes.
Editing text directly changes the existing text within its original text block. This is good for small corrections like typos. Adding a new text box places a new, separate layer of text on top of the PDF. This can be better for scanned pages or when you want to add new content without affecting the original layout, but it might not blend perfectly with the existing document.
