| Feature | Purpose | Visibility |
|---|---|---|
| Bates Numbering | Adds a permanent, unique index for legal or official use. | Stamps numbers directly onto the page content, like ink. |
| Page Labels | Changes how page numbers are displayed in Acrobat's navigation. | Only changes the displayed page number, not the actual page content. |
Bates Numbering is important for legal documents because it provides a clear, unchangeable way to identify every single page. This helps lawyers, courts, and other parties refer to specific pages without confusion. It ensures all copies of a document set have the same unique page identifiers, which is crucial for evidence and official records.
Bates Numbering adds a new stamp to your pages. It will not overwrite existing page numbers if you place the Bates numbers in a different area (like a corner or margin). However, if you place the Bates numbers in the exact same spot as existing numbers, they might overlap. Always use the preview to check placement before applying.
Bates Numbering is a feature in Adobe Acrobat Pro that adds unique, sequential numbers to each page of a PDF document or a set of PDFs. It's like stamping a unique ID on every page. This is mainly used for organizing and indexing large collections of legal, business, or medical documents.
