Open your PDF document in Adobe Acrobat.
Select the Organize Pages tool from the right pane.
Click the Crop Pages tool (scissors icon) in the secondary toolbar.
In the crop dialog, click the Set to Visible Content button to auto-detect and select the content area for cropping.
Best practiceIf the auto-detect misses small marks or headers, manually adjust the crop box before applying.
Choose the page range you want to crop, or leave as default to crop all pages.
Click OK to apply the crop to the selected pages.
Save the PDF to preserve the cropped view.
Auto-cropping to visible content quickly removes unwanted margins from scanned or exported documents.
This runs in the Acrobat app - there is no separate API for this task.
Cropping pages in Acrobat only hides the content outside the selected area; the data remains in the file and can be recovered. Sanitizing a PDF, however, permanently removes all hidden data and content, ensuring it cannot be restored. Use cropping for visual clean-up, and sanitizing for security or to reduce file size by truly deleting hidden information.
Yes, you can undo a crop because cropping only hides the content, it does not delete it. You can go back to the 'Crop Pages' tool and adjust the crop box or reset it to show the full page content again.
