Drawing a black box, however, only covers the content visually. The original text or image data remains underneath the box and can often be revealed by selecting all text or copying and pasting the content. Always use the dedicated 'Redact' tool for security.
Sanitizing a PDF after redaction is important because redaction only removes visible content.
