Yes, you can use Fill and Sign on any PDF, even if it's a scanned document without form fields. You can drag your signature or initials onto any blank space. You can also add text boxes to type information anywhere on the scanned page. This makes it easy to sign almost any document you receive.
Adobe Acrobat offers 'Fill and Sign' as a client action because it is designed for personal use. You, the user, are directly interacting with the document to add your unique signature. An API (Application Programming Interface) is for automated processes. Since signing usually requires a person's direct approval and placement of their signature, it's kept as a manual step within the application.
If your drawn signature doesn't look good, you have other options. You can choose to type your name, and Acrobat will create a stylish signature font for you. Or, you can sign a piece of paper, take a picture of it, and then upload that image to use as your signature. This helps ensure your signature always looks professional.
