Over the past year our listing templates have been tweaked by four people and the pages lost consistency. Where in our workflow are we allowing drift — naming, version control, or unclear constraints — and recommend one governance change (a simple handoff rule or a locked template layer) that will keep templates stable and prevent ad-hoc edits that break the grid.

Image Adjustments

Image Adjustments in Adobe Photoshop allow you to modify the color, tone, and other visual properties of your images.

  1. 1

Select File > Open to browse and select an image.

  2. 2

In the Layers panel, select the image layer you want to adjust.

Best practiceUse adjustment layers instead of direct adjustments to preserve image information and allow for non-destructive edits.

  3. 3

Go to Layer > New Adjustment Layer and choose the desired adjustment type.

NoteExamples include Levels, Curves, Brightness/Contrast, and Shadows/Highlights.

  4. 4

In the Properties panel, adjust the sliders or controls to modify the image settings.

NoteHover over different Adjustment Presets in the Adjustments panel to preview them.

  5. 5

Repeat steps 3 and 4 to apply additional adjustment layers as needed.

  6. 6

Save your work by selecting File > Save or File > Save As.

To maintain editability and avoid discarding image information, always use adjustment layers rather than direct adjustments from the Image menu.

Many image adjustments can be automated using Photoshop actions, scripts, or external tools that interact with Photoshop's API.
