Color Balance

Color Balance adjusts the overall color mixture in an image's midtones, shadows, and highlights.

    Open Photoshop.

    Select File > Open to browse and select an image.

  3. 3

    In the Adjustments panel, click the Color Balance ( ) icon.

    NoteAlternatively, choose Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Color Balance.

    Click OK in the New Layer dialog box if it appears.

    In the Properties panel, select a tonal range: Shadows, Midtones, or Highlights.

    Adjust the Cyan/Red, Magenta/Green, and Yellow/Blue sliders.

    Best practiceFor accurate color analysis, use the gray balance eyedropper in Levels or Curves on a neutral patch first.

    Repeat for other tonal ranges as needed.

    Check the Preserve Luminosity box to prevent tonal changes.

    Save your image to apply the changes.

To quickly repeat the last Color Balance adjustment, hold Alt (Windows) or Option (Mac) and select Color Balance from the Image > Adjustments menu.

Color Balance adjustments can be recorded as actions in Photoshop for automation, allowing consistent application across multiple images.
