Use the Clone Stamp or Healing Brush tool to carefully paint over stray hairs. Keep the edges soft for a natural look. Zoom in for precision and work slowly to avoid making it obvious.
Clean flyaway hair after adjusting the overall color and skin tone but before final sharpening. This ensures the hairs blend well with the rest of the image, especially if preparing for large prints.
Use a low-opacity Healing Brush or Clone Stamp, matching the hair color carefully. Work in small sections and feather your edits to maintain natural texture and avoid a plastic look.
Over-smoothing or removing all stray hairs can make the subject look unnatural. It’s better to selectively clean only the most distracting flyaways, preserving the natural hair texture.
Retouchers and photo editors doing portrait or fashion work frequently clean flyaway hair to create polished images for large prints or magazines.

AI can automate parts of the process, like selecting flyaway hairs or blending edges, but manual touch-up is often needed for a natural result. AI is a helpful assistant, not a complete solution.
