The marketing team wants a nightly automation that trims, watermarks, and archives hundreds of property photos so they can pull assets at 7am. I can script actions but I’m worried about overwriting master files and creating a watermark that hides detail on certain images. Tell me the safe automation sequence and file-naming rule that prevents master loss and where a human must still sign off before the archive runs.

Best practiceUsing Smart Objects from the start saves edits and time by preserving original image data.

  9. 9

Close the Smart Object window to return to your main document.

Smart Objects allow you to apply transformations, filters, and other edits non-destructively, always preserving the original image data.

Photoshop's scripting capabilities can automate the creation and placement of Smart Objects, especially for templated workflows.

Use adjustment layers like 'Curves' or 'Selective Color' for uniform skin tone. Apply a gentle skin-smoothing filter or frequency separation technique. Keep the edits subtle to avoid an unnatural look.

Perform skin work after basic color correction and before sharpening. This ensures the skin adjustments blend well with overall photo tones and look natural across all images.

Use a soft brush on a new layer to gently reduce blemishes or uneven areas. For more control, try frequency separation to separate skin texture from color, then smooth only the color layer.

Avoid over-smoothing, which can make skin look plastic or fake. Keep some natural skin texture intact and match the skin tone across all images for consistency.

A retoucher or photo editor does this to ensure the skin looks even and flattering in wedding albums. They focus on making the skin look clean, yet natural.

AI can quickly smooth skin and remove blemishes, saving time. However, manual touch-ups are needed for fine details, natural texture, and ensuring a consistent look across all photos.

Skin work often combines with tasks like soften skin tone to create a harmonious look. Remove unwanted persons before skin work to avoid awkward blending, and use clean backgrounds to keep focus on the subject.
