Before the keynote, refine the map morph — align key boundaries between slides, label start and end years, slow the transition for clarity, and add a caption explaining what change the animation is demonstrating.

Transitions

Transitions add visual effects between slides to make your presentation more dynamic.

  1. 1

Select the slide you want to add a transition to in the Thumbnail Pane.

  2. 2

Select the Transitions tab on the Ribbon.

  3. 3

Choose a transition from the Transition gallery.

Best practiceAvoid using random, different animations throughout your presentation as they can distract from your message. Restraint is key.

  4. 4

Select Effect Options to choose the direction and nature of the transition.

NoteFor PowerPoint for Android, select Transitions > Transition Effects > Morph, then Transitions > Effect Options.

  5. 5

In the Timing group, type the number of seconds in the Duration box to set the speed.

  6. 6

To apply the same transition to all slides, click Apply To All on the Transitions tab.

To change an existing transition, select the slide with the transition, then choose a new effect from the Transitions tab.

PowerPoint transitions can be automated using VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) to apply effects and timing programmatically.

Because you rarely think 'I want the redaction tool'. You think 'I have to share this without leaking the client's details'. Start from the need, and the feature finds you.

Real. Every job here was drawn from what people in real roles were actually seen doing in PowerPoint — not a feature checklist.

No. Each page gives you a ready prompt you can paste into an AI assistant, plus the plain steps to do it yourself. Start with either — the goal is the finished job, not the tool.
