Write grant proposals to obtain funding for biological research.

The grant draft needs finishing for the agency deadline on Tuesday. Put the aims and hypothesis on page one, attach the budget table with personnel lines, add the animal ethics statement we discussed, and deliver the packet to the department head for sign-off by Monday evening so I can submit Tuesday morning.

Before I hand the proposal to the department head, make it easy for reviewers to award funding: put the innovation and expected outcomes in the executive summary, move the deliverables and milestone table up front, and flag any parts where feasibility might make a reviewer hesitate—suggest one short mitigation for each.

The PI wants a new in vivo experiment added two days before the deadline and insists it strengthens the application, but we lack funds and time to include it properly. I can omit it, tack on a brief feasibility sentence, or push the deadline. What is the most defensible choice that protects the proposal’s clarity and our credibility with the reviewers? How should I explain that choice to the PI in two lines?
