Hop 2 — 10 sets, 2 of each
Sampling the whole 4k by coverage, not convenience. Each set is a different design problem; two of each tests both the recipe and whether siblings within a set match. Every icon on the new recipe, every one on five backgrounds. Read the black and cream columns hardest — and the honest flags at the bottom.
Honest flags for your eye
- Near-mono bright subjects — sun, heart, star, tree. They're gold by nature; a full 20% dark distorts them. I gave each what dark I could (sun's face, heart's pulse line, star's core, tree's trunk) and leaned on two-tone gold + a dark accent. Your call: do bright symbols get an exception to the 20% rule, or do you want more dark forced in?
- The anatomy experiment — thumbs-up, praying hands. Drawn, not assumed-failed. Do they read as hands at 36px, or do they need to become cleaner symbols?
- Snowflake uses a new trick — a thin/radial subject sits on a gold chip so it stays legible on white. If you like it, that becomes the rule for all thin subjects (sparkles, asterisks, fine line-art).
- Within-set siblings: do the two in each row feel like they belong to one family? (e.g. dog + panda, sun + snowflake, clock + bell.)
Name what's wrong on any single icon and it becomes a rule; if the set holds, this is the recipe that scales to the generation pilot.
