Chapter 18 — Capitalization
When does a word need a capital letter?
A capital letter marks a beginning or a name; a word for a kind of thing stays small — "My friend Asha", "Monday in June", "every summer". Ask whether the word starts a sentence, names one particular thing, or only says what kind. Learn sentence starts and I, names and places, Mum or my mum, titles of people and of books, directions, title case or sentence case, and short forms, for ages 5 to 19.
