You usually split time between the office and the production floor. Mornings often start by reviewing production reports in Microsoft Excel and checking emails in Outlook or SharePoint for issues from overnight shifts.

Afternoons are for site work: inspecting equipment layout, walking production lines, meeting technicians, and approving engineering drawings in AutoCAD or SolidWorks. Expect at least one weekly meeting on Microsoft Project to track capital purchases or process changes.

Start with Microsoft Excel and AutoCAD. Excel is used every day for production reports, cost estimates, and staffing spreadsheets. AutoCAD (or SolidWorks for 3D parts) is needed to read and edit technical drawings and layouts.

Next add Microsoft Visio for workflow diagrams, Microsoft Project for scheduling projects, and SharePoint/Outlook/Word/PowerPoint for document control, approvals, and communicating change plans.
