Design custom icons or illustrations

I need a set of six matching custom icons for my bakery’s new seasonal menu. Make them simple, line-based with a warm brown stroke, 64px artboard, and consistent corner radii so they sit next to product photos on the menu. Deliver PNGs and a single SVG with layers grouped by icon. Check visual weight so no icon reads heavier than another. Deadline: Wednesday afternoon for print proofing.

Before I hand these icons to marketing, make approving this easy. Put the most important version first: a 64px PNG on a white artboard with the warm brown stroke visible. Show the SVG grouped by icon so they can confirm editability. Call out any legibility issues at small sizes and suggest one alternative color if contrast fails. Note if any icon needs thicker strokes to match the set.

The art director just sent six phone photos and said ‘make icons like these’ and left. I am the designer and worried about mismatched scale and unclear stroke style. I don’t know whether to match playful or modern feel, and I can’t ask for another meeting. What’s the safest visual direction to take so the icons fit the menu and pass a quick approval?

Across projects I keep ending up remaking icons three times for the same client because I never lock the visual rules up front. I waste time arguing about stroke weight and corner radii. What compact habit should I adopt to stop rework and get sign-off faster while keeping stakeholders comfortable with small creative choices?
