Split and merge documents

I need to split the 120-page training manual into four separate files—Participant Guide, Facilitator Guide, Slides Notes, and Appendices—and then produce a single merged file that contains only the Participant Guide and Appendices in that order. Extract the correct page ranges, preserve footers and page numbers for each new file, save each with the exact filenames in the Training folder, and create the merged file as requested.

Before I hand these files to the design team, make them obvious to review. Split the manual into four documents by the headings 'Participant Guide', 'Facilitator Guide', 'Slide Notes', and 'Appendices'; ensure each new file keeps consistent heading styles and a matching table of contents; flag pages where headings change unexpectedly or where page-numbering resets; and give me a short note listing any split points that need manual cleanup.

I tried to split the training manual at the big section headers but the exported files keep putting the last paragraph of chapters on the wrong files because styles are inconsistent. I don’t know which styles are wrong and I’m worried design will miss content. Diagnose the likely cause, the quick checks that identify offending paragraphs, and the single corrective move that will produce clean splits without retyping content.

Every time I split long manuals I spend hours fixing broken splits and page-numbering because contributors used different heading styles and manual breaks. Where can I standardize the workflow—what style rules to enforce at submission, a checklist for incoming files, and one automation or macro that saves the editing time on future splits?
