Open Adobe Acrobat on your computer.
Go to Tools and select Compare Files.
Click Select File under 'Compare' and choose your first PDF (the older or original version).
Click Select File under 'With' and choose your second PDF (the newer or revised version).
Click Compare to start the comparison.
Review the results in the comparison summary and use the side-by-side view to examine highlighted differences.

This runs in the Acrobat app - there is no separate API for this task.
When you select 'Compare text only', Adobe Acrobat will ignore any pictures, drawings, or graphics in your PDF files. It will only look for differences in the words and sentences. This is useful if you only care about text changes and want to make the comparison faster or clearer.
You cannot compare PDF files if they have security settings that prevent it. This warning means one or both of your documents are protected. To fix this, you need to remove the security protection from both PDF files first. Look for the 'Protect' tool in Acrobat to manage these settings before trying to compare again.
