Open the PDF file you want to share in Adobe Acrobat (Mac or PC).
Click the Share button in the top toolbar.
Enter the email addresses of all reviewers you want to invite, separating each with a comma.
Adjust access permissions if needed, such as allowing commenters to view or comment.
Click Send to share the PDF for collaborative review.
Alternatively, choose to create a shareable link and manually send it to multiple reviewers if you prefer not to use email invitations.
Best practiceIf your reviewers have trouble receiving email invites, copying the share link and sending it via your own email or chat system can help ensure everyone gets access.
You can track who has viewed or commented on your shared PDF directly within the Acrobat app.
This runs in the Acrobat app - there is no separate API for this task.
The main benefit of Share for Review is that it gathers all comments from different people into one single file automatically. When you email PDFs, you get many separate files back, each with different comments. You then have to combine all those comments by hand, which takes a lot of time and can lead to mistakes. Share for Review makes this process simple and efficient.
After you share a PDF for review, Acrobat notifies you when reviewers add comments. To see a full overview, go to the 'Shared by you' section within Acrobat. This area shows you the status of all your shared documents and lets you track who has responded and made comments.
Using Share for Review is better because it streamlines the feedback process significantly. It prevents the common problem of receiving multiple marked-up PDFs that need manual reconciliation. By centralizing all comments into one file, it ensures that you have a single source of truth for all feedback, making it easier to review, respond to, and implement changes. This saves a lot of effort compared to traditional email-based reviews.
