| Feature | Highlight | Drawing Markup |

Sanitizing a PDF removes all comments, highlights, and markup that you or others added during review. This is important because comments and notes are stored as a separate layer in the file, and someone else could see them if you do not remove them. Sanitizing helps keep your feedback private and makes sure the final version looks clean and professional.
Comments & Annotations let you add notes or highlight blurry parts, but they do not fix or improve the text itself. You can use markup to point out where the scan is hard to read so someone else knows which parts need to be fixed.
If you do not flatten or sanitize your comments, anyone who opens the PDF can see your notes, highlights, and drawings. This can be a problem if you wrote private feedback or made marks not meant for everyone. Always sanitize or flatten your PDF before sending the final version so no hidden review notes are left inside.
