If you're testing or calibrating electrical parts, you may use National Instruments LabVIEW for automated tests and a calibration system or tools to adjust instruments. Basic Excel skills help but are not always required.
Start with the basics: identify symbols for resistors, connectors, holes, and mechanical parts on a standard blueprint. Practice by following a simple assembly from start to finish and matching each step to the drawing.
Ask a trainer to walk you through one product on your first shift. Most shops pair new hires with an experienced assembler who explains notation, tolerances, and where to align or drill. Keep a pocket reference of common symbols.
You can use AI for non-sensitive help: clarifying a schematic symbol, converting units, or drafting a short checklist. Never upload proprietary drawings, ERP data, or product schematics unless your company permits it.
For safety-critical procedures (calibration settings, soldering specs, banned-material rules), always follow the factory's written procedures or ask a supervisor. AI can suggest questions to ask but should not replace formal training or calibration systems.
