You spend the day starting machines, watching them run, and fixing small problems quickly. Morning work often means checking machine settings, threading yarn, and measuring yarn count so the fabric meets specs.

Look for entry-level roles as a machine helper or textile trainee and mention any hands-on school classes. Employers train you to thread yarn, set up machines, and measure yarn counts; many skills are learned on the job.
Mention basic Excel and Outlook ability on your resume—those are common requirements. Ask about an apprenticeship or on-the-job training program when you apply.
Different job entirely. A ‘ferry operator’ in textile lists means operating knitting or weaving machines that make fabric, not driving passenger boats. Tasks are threading yarn, programming electronic equipment, and inspecting cloth.
If you want marine ferry work, the duties, certifications, and pay are completely different. The textile role focuses on machine setup, quality control, and production paperwork.
You can use AI only for non-safety tasks like analyzing Excel production logs, summarizing defect trends, or drafting shift reports in Word. Always check AI outputs against machine readings and supervisors—do not allow AI to change machine settings directly.
For patterning, use CAD software designed for knitting; let a trained person confirm any AI-suggested pattern or program before running a machine. Safety and accuracy are your responsibility.
