Use Live Paint to color complex regions

I have a 12-layer illustration with overlapping shapes that need distinct color regions. Convert the art so I can paint each enclosed region independently, preserving stroke widths and live effects, then produce a printable CMYK version and a Pantone spot equivalent for the art director to approve.

Before giving this Live Paint pass to the art director, make it easy to judge color decisions: group contiguous painted regions so large areas read first, create a swatch panel with the proposed CMYK and Pantone matches labeled, and flag any tiny regions under 2mm that will print inconsistently.

I converted the layered botanical piece to Live Paint but several leaves show color leaks where strokes cross; the art director, Marco, expects clean regions and I can’t tell if I mis-sketched paths or if stroke caps are causing the bleed. What should I check first to pinpoint whether path direction, open paths, or stroke alignment is the culprit, and how do I correct it without repainting every region?

Over multiple projects I spend time repairing Live Paint groups after each round of client edits because selections break region boundaries and tiny gaps appear. That forces repainting and delays approvals. What routine and file-setup habits will make Live Paint work durable across iterative edits, and how do I structure the original vector so later tweaks don’t leak colors again?
