Export workspace data (admins)

As workspace admin, export the workspace data for audit: messages, files, and integration logs from January 1st to June 30th, including private channel content where retention allows. Compress the export, store it in the secure audit bucket, and send the download link to Compliance with a note about any gaps due to retention settings.

Before I trigger the data export for Compliance, make the package easy to review. Put a short manifest at the top listing date ranges, channel lists, and any missing data due to retention or DMs, surface large files or unusual integration logs, and flag if any legal holds are active that would change the export content.

The export tool warned that some DMs and deleted messages are excluded due to retention rules and I paused because Compliance expects a complete record. I do not know which conversations are missing and whether that will trigger follow-up. What's the likely extent of the gaps and the best way to communicate them to Compliance now?

We keep scrambling to produce workspace exports at audit time and then discover retention gaps or missing app logs. It costs us urgent hours and credibility. What recurring changes to retention policy, documentation, or export rehearsals would stop audits becoming emergencies?
