Import footage and media

I have a hard drive full of this week’s shoots — two A7S3 cards, interview audio from Jonas, and B-roll from Tuesday’s location. Import everything into a new project folder named ‘Kemp Promo April 21’, keep camera folders intact, create subfolders for Audio, Graphics, and Proxies, and verify the interview clips link to Jonas’s WAV files before closing the project. Deadline: end of day Thursday.

Before I import, make it easy for the producer to spot what's usable — surface clip duration, camera, framerate, and whether the clip has matching audio. Put interview takes and their WAV files side-by-side, tag selects with a green label, and flag any corrupted files or missing audio that would slow the cut.

I just tried importing the A7S3 folder and several interview WAVs from Jonas didn’t relink to their clips. The producers are waiting for a rough cut on Friday and I don’t know if the WAVs were misnamed or recorded separately. What’s the most likely cause and what should I do now to avoid losing sync or delaying the cut?

Across projects I keep losing time at import: inconsistent file naming, missing camera audio, and messy folder structures that force me to rebuild bins every time. What practical habits should I adopt at the shoot and at intake to make imports predictable, save two hours per project, and stop surprising the producer before the rough?
