The four heights

The same task, four distances: today's deadline, the next reviewer, the stuck moment, the pattern.

Composite the interview B-roll over the background plate from 00:05:30–00:05:48 using an animated mask to reveal the subject’s hand as it moves. Feather the mask to 20 pixels, track the mask to the subject’s wrist, and deliver a flattened clip plus the masked project file to Simone for color grading.

Before this goes to final grade, make the comp seamless. Tighten the mask edge where the lip of the sleeve overlaps the background, bake a short motion-tracked roto for the hand between 00:05:36–00:05:40, and highlight any frames where edge color spill needs cleanup. Call out the frames where the hairline intersects the mask.

Decide — diagnose the stuck moment

My mask edge keeps snapping to the wrong contour at a cut point

I built an animated mask for the hand reveal from 00:05:30 to 00:05:48 but at the cut to camera B the mask edge snaps and shows background bleed for three frames. I don’t know whether to extend the mask keyframes across the cut, create a separate mask for camera B, or alter the cut. The editor expects no visible seam. Which is the least risky fix?

Become — change the pattern

I repeatedly rework masks after reviews

I spend a lot of time redoing masks because I start with crude roto and only refine after client notes, which pushes color and delivery back. That keeps me in a reactive loop. What change in my masking workflow would reduce rework and give more reliable first-pass composites across projects?

Every task here came from the work, not from a feature list — which is why the prompts name what you want done and never the button that does it. The tool changes; the work does not.
