Mute my microphone for the next faculty meeting; show a visual cue when it's muted and make sure the host can still unmute me if needed. Return my mic to the previous state after the meeting ends.

Before I mute myself for the lecture, make it easy for the moderator to hear me if I need to answer: leave 'raise hand' active, display a muted icon clearly next to my name, and flag any background apps accessing the microphone that would make a reviewer hesitate.

I answered a question in the seminar but the chair said they couldn't hear me and the recording shows silence. I'm afraid my mute stayed on the whole time and the chair thinks I didn't prepare. I can't prove I spoke without the recording. Should I apologize and repeat my answer now, or message the chair privately to explain? Which option preserves credibility best?
