Test audio and video

I need to test my audio and camera before the lesson. Verify microphone levels, confirm my camera framing and lighting, play back a test recording to check sound quality, and fix common issues so I’m ready to start by 8:55 AM.

Before class, make it quick for me to validate audio/video—surface mic selection, show current input levels, run a one-click test recording and playback, and highlight anything that would make students complain (low volume, echo, poor lighting) with actionable fixes.

I just did a quick mic check and my voice sounds thin and echoey. I’m afraid students won’t hear instructions clearly and I can’t tell if it’s the room acoustics, microphone quality, or software input settings. Should I switch to a headset, change the input device, adjust levels, or ask a student to confirm? What’s the fastest sequence to diagnose and fix before class starts?

I waste several minutes before each lesson tuning audio and camera and still get complaints about volume or framing. Where am I inefficient—no standard pre-class setup, inconsistent gear, or skipping a test recording—and what single routine should I adopt so tests take 60 seconds and issues are rarer?
