Before I convert the bullets to SmartArt for the board, make the diagram persuasive: surface the single biggest benefit in the left node, use an icon for Evidence, and shorten text to no more than six words per node. Flag any node that will prompt follow-up questions from the COO and suggest a one-line explanation for that node to add in the speaker notes.

I swapped the bullets for SmartArt and it pushed the chart off the slide; the COO insists both must appear. What likely happened — default SmartArt sizing, layout anchor, or slide master constraints — and what is the fastest fix to keep the diagram readable and preserve the chart’s space without redrawing either?

Across presentations I keep converting detailed text into SmartArt to make slides cleaner, but reviewers then edit content into long sentences that break layouts and increase revision rounds. What rule or constraint should I apply when using SmartArt and one change in slide handoff to reduce rework while retaining visual clarity?
