Implement soil and water conservation techniques

I need to send the soil and water conservation plan to Head of Field Operations, Priya Shah, and then to District Agricultural Officer, Ramesh Verma, asking for approval to start next Monday; check the plot-level measures, terrace spacing table and seedling calendar are complete before sending.

Before I share the conservation plan with the village committee, make it easy for them to approve: show expected runoff reduction percent at the top, make the planting and maintenance calendar findable, and flag anything that would make Ramesh hesitate (costs above 25,000 rupees or need for heavy machinery).

The extension team just reported that the new terraces on Plot 7 washed out in yesterday’s storm. I told the farmer we used the standard 1:3 slope and 60 cm bench width. I’m worried our spacing or drainage detail is wrong but I can’t inspect the whole catchment before approvals. What is the likely cause and the best immediate change to the plan so approvals can still go ahead?

Across projects we keep redoing terrace designs after the first heavy rain; it drains time and credibility with farmers. Where are we losing accuracy or speed — survey detail, drainage rules of thumb, or the way we record soil type — and what one practice should we change first so future designs survive the first storm?
