An AI model should not surprise a user with a request for permissions.
Unexpected permission requests can make a user feel cautious or refuse access. Always prepare the user before asking for system permissions.
Unexpected requests for microphone or location access can stop a user from continuing. A user might feel worried or say no to the request. The AI model should always explain why it needs access before asking. Create a special screen to tell the user about the permission. Explain clearly why the AI model needs this access. When the user clicks 'Enable', they are ready for the browser's pop-up request. This turns a possible problem into a simple setup step.
A developer creates an AI language learning app. The app needs microphone access to hear the student speak. If the app asks for the microphone without warning, the student might close the app. Instead, the developer adds a screen that says, 'To practice speaking, we need to use your microphone.' When the student clicks 'OK', the browser's microphone request appears. The student is ready and accepts the permission.
