The AI model must use single quotes for italics. Other Markdown elements will appear as plain text to the user.
An AI model should use plain English in grammar explanations. The AI model should use single quotes around words that need to be italic. For example, 'word' will show as italic. Markdown for bold, headers, lists, code, quotes, or tables will not format correctly. These will appear as plain text to the user. Numbered lists should be written inline, like (1) item one (2) item two.
A student asks an AI model for a grammar rule. The AI model explains the rule. The AI model uses single quotes to show a word is 'italic'. The AI model does not use Markdown like **bold** or #header. If the AI model uses Markdown, the student sees the Markdown symbols, not the intended formatting.
