◆ AI Learning · Hard rule

How should an AI model manage the user's scroll position after an action?

After a user takes an action, the AI model must place the user's view where the user expects it. This means scrolling to the top of a new page. It means focusing on a main button. It means keeping the scroll position for content that changes state.

The rule

After a user takes an action, the AI model must place the user's view where the user expects it.

This means scrolling to the top of a new page. It means focusing on a main button. It means keeping the scroll position for content that changes state.

When a user navigates to a new page or section, the AI model should scroll to the top. This helps the user see the new content from the beginning. If a user clicks a button with a high chance of being clicked next, the AI model should focus on that button. This guides the user's next action. If the content changes but the user stays on the same page, the AI model should keep the scroll position. This helps the user compare changes without losing their place. Some users prefer less motion. The AI model should respect this preference for scrolling.

A student is using an AI model to learn. The student clicks a link to a new chapter. The AI model scrolls the new chapter to the top. This lets the student start reading from the beginning. If the student switches between two modes of a quiz, the AI model keeps the scroll position. This allows the student to compare the quiz modes easily.

How should a developer structure the HTML and CSS for a timeline component?

The main container for a timeline is the `.timeline` class. This class holds all parts of the timeline.

How can a developer position a child element relative to its parent using CSS?

A developer can set the parent element's CSS `position` to `relative`. This allows child elements with `position: absolute` to move within the parent.

Why should a developer avoid using a floating panel for settings?

A floating panel can block parts of the screen. This makes it hard for a user to see all options.

How can a developer make sure a dropdown menu or tooltip always appears on top of other content?

A developer must set the 'position: relative' and a 'z-index' value on the parent element. This 'z-index' value must be higher than any overlapping elements.
