Why can an AI model not start a server program for a user?

An AI model cannot reliably start server processes that need to run after the AI model's own process ends. A user must manually start such processes.

The rule

An AI model cannot reliably start server processes that need to run after the AI model's own process ends.

A user must manually start such processes.

When an AI model starts a program, the new program is linked to the AI model's process. If the AI model's process closes, the program it started will also close. This is how Windows manages programs. A server program needs to run all the time. The user must start the server program themselves. This makes sure the server program keeps running.

A developer asks an AI model to start a local server for a web application. The AI model tries to run the server start command. The AI model then finishes its task and closes. The server program also stops running. The developer cannot access the web application.

Why did a long-running Python script stop without an error message?

When a developer runs a Python script in the background using a shell command, the script is linked to that shell. If the shell session closes or times out, the operating system stops the script.

How can a developer ensure only one server instance is running and serving the correct code?

Before starting a server, a developer must kill all existing instances. After killing, the developer must check that no instances are running.

How does a developer restart a server process correctly?

A developer must always restart the server after any file change. The developer should never tell a user to run the server.

Why is a server slow even when it has no errors?

A 'zombie' process is an old program that is still running. It holds open network connections.
