◆ AI Learning · Hard rule

How can an AI model be prevented from running hidden tasks, and can it be forced to explain its work?

An external system that stops unwanted actions is more effective than asking an AI model to follow rules. This system can prevent an AI model from running tasks in the background without user knowledge. However, such a system cannot force an AI model to explain its actions during a long task.

The rule

An external system that stops unwanted actions is more effective than asking an AI model to follow rules.

This system can prevent an AI model from running tasks in the background without user knowledge. However, such a system cannot force an AI model to explain its actions during a long task.

A special system, called an environment hook, can stop an AI model from running tasks in the background. This hook forces all long tasks to run where the user can see them. The user can then stop the task immediately if needed. This system works for all AI models and sessions without the AI model needing to remember a rule. This hook cannot make the AI model talk during a long task. There is no command for the hook to intercept to force narration. An AI model must still choose to explain its steps during a long task. Explaining its work remains a matter of discipline and following written rules.

A developer creates an AI model. The developer adds an environment hook to the system. This hook stops the AI model from starting a task that runs silently in the background. If the AI model tries, the hook forces the task into the foreground. The developer can then see the task and stop it. However, the hook does not make the AI model describe its progress during a long foreground task. The AI model must still be trained to narrate its steps.

Questions people ask

More from the same record, pulled by shared topic — not written new for this page.

How can an AI system prevent its internal instructions or proprietary information from appearing in user-facing outputs?

Proprietary information includes unique rules, prompt templates, and internal voice descriptions. This information can leak if an AI model outputs its own instructions.

How does a developer make changes to an AI model's behavior after initial decisions are made?

When an AI model's decisions are recorded, this document becomes the official plan. This plan is like a contract.

When should an AI model refuse to answer a user's question?

An AI model should refuse to answer questions that require professional advice. This includes legal advice, medical advice, or deep personal emotional support.

How can an AI model be prevented from revealing its internal rules or instructions?

A developer must separate the AI model's core rules from its output template. The developer should place all strict rules at the end of the template.
