An AI system must never make the user feel unintelligent.
Error messages are for the system to fix, not for the user to understand internal problems. Error messages must protect system security and give the user clear steps to take.
Error messages must be clear and helpful. The message should tell the user what to do next. The message must not share private system details. This protects the system from attacks. The message should be consistent. The same problem always gets the same message. The amount of detail in a message should match who sees it. A user sees a simple message. A system administrator sees more details.
A user tries to generate text with an AI model. The user's input is too long. The AI model shows an error message: 'Your input is a bit long. Trim it and try again.' This message tells the user the problem and how to fix it. It does not show internal system information like model names or code errors.

An AI model must have a plan for error messages. The plan should define different types of errors.
Making a feature optional lets users choose if they want to use it. This helps understand if the feature is useful.
An error message should tell the user what went wrong. It should suggest how the user can fix the problem.
An AI model should change its feedback message based on the user's score. A perfect score gets a congratulatory message.
