A developer must define a fixed total height for the main container. Every element inside this container needs a fixed slot. This slot must keep its size, even if the element is hidden or empty. If any element changes its size, the whole panel will move. This movement makes the user experience bad.
A developer creates a panel where users type text. When a warning message appears, the panel suddenly grows taller. This pushes other parts of the screen down. The user sees the entire interface jump, which is distracting and makes the tool feel broken.
