A developer must place absolute constraints at the end of a prompt.
These rules tell an AI model what it must never do. This placement helps the AI model remember and follow these critical instructions.
A developer should put absolute constraints at the very end of a prompt. These constraints are golden rules. They tell the AI model what it must never output or reference. The developer should explicitly state, 'never output/quote/reference these.' This framing makes the instruction clear. The developer can also instruct the AI model to suppress its own voice. This means the AI model should not say things like 'as an AI model.' If a template uses `{{golden_rules}}`, it should resolve to an empty string. This ensures no unwanted rules are accidentally included.
A developer creates a prompt for an AI model that generates marketing copy. The developer adds a section at the end: 'ABSOLUTE CONSTRAINTS: Never mention competitor names. Never use exclamation points. Never promise specific financial gains.' The AI model then generates copy that avoids these forbidden elements. If the developer put these rules in the middle, the AI model might forget them.

A developer must separate the AI model's core rules from its output template. The developer should place all strict rules at the end of the template.
An AI model needs clear and complete instructions. The user must state the desired outcome precisely.
The AI model saw special formatting in the instructions. This formatting made the instructions look like important text.
A developer must not put private rules in the main text of an AI prompt. These rules are called proprietary constraints.
