The rule

Neurodivergence changes how trust is broken and rebuilt.

Standard advice for trust repair may not work. A different approach is needed for different ways of thinking.

Neurodivergence changes how a person understands and reacts to a betrayal. This means the usual ways of fixing trust might not work. The person who betrayed trust needs to understand these differences. For an autistic person, a betrayal like infidelity breaks social rules. This can make their world feel unsafe and unpredictable. Rebuilding trust needs very clear actions and words. It needs perfect consistency. For a person with ADHD, the betrayal might be linked to impulsivity or strong emotions. Fixing trust means dealing with the betrayal itself. It also means helping with the underlying challenges of ADHD. These challenges affect planning and self-control. Advice like 'read body language' or 'feel what they feel' might not help. This is because neurodivergent people process social information differently. The person rebuilding trust must learn new ways to communicate and act.

A partner betrays trust. The other partner is autistic. The betraying partner tries to show regret through subtle facial expressions. The autistic partner does not understand these cues. The autistic partner needs direct, clear statements of regret and consistent, predictable actions to rebuild trust. The subtle cues are not effective.

Questions people ask

More from the same record, pulled by shared topic — not written new for this page.

How is a need for quiet different from wanting quiet?

A need for quiet is like needing food or sleep. The body requires it to function well.

How can a person understand a new situation without becoming overwhelmed by its emotions or problems?

A person can act like a scientist studying a new culture. The person watches what happens.

Why do friendships change, and how can a person understand these changes?

Friendships can be like seasons. Some friendships are strong for a short time, like a summer flower.

How can an AI model help users who find social interaction difficult?

Some users find small talk very tiring. They might prefer to talk about specific topics.
