What is Turbo Text-to-Speech and when is it not needed?

Turbo Text-to-Speech (TTS) models send audio quickly. They are for live conversations. Pre-generated audio does not need Turbo TTS. The audio is ready before it plays.

The rule

Turbo Text-to-Speech (TTS) models send audio quickly.

They are for live conversations. Pre-generated audio does not need Turbo TTS. The audio is ready before it plays.

Turbo TTS models send small parts of audio very fast. The first sound plays in about 200 milliseconds. This happens before all the audio is made. Turbo TTS is for voice assistants and live AI chats. It is for any time a person waits for a reply. When audio is saved before it is played, Turbo TTS is not needed. The audio file already exists. The delay is only how long it takes to get the file. This is usually very fast. Turbo TTS offers no benefit for saved audio.

A developer creates an application that plays pre-recorded messages. The developer considers using a Turbo TTS model. However, the audio is generated and saved when the message is created. When a user plays the message, the audio file is already waiting. Using Turbo TTS would not make the audio play faster. It would add unnecessary cost and complexity.

Questions people ask

More from the same record, pulled by shared topic — not written new for this page.

How does a text-to-speech engine use formulas and default settings?

A text-to-speech engine follows specific rules. These rules include formulas for speech rate.

How does an AI model check user text for specific words and show a warning?

An AI model checks user text for certain words. It uses a special list for this check.

How can a developer be sure the server is showing the correct version of a file after an edit?

A developer edits a file. The developer then needs to check if the server is actually using that new file.

How should an AI model store its data for better performance?

An AI model should use a database like SQLite for all data storage. This means all information, such as images or text, is saved in the database.
