What is a X-Ray Technician?
X-Ray Technicians, also known as Radiologic Technologists, operate X-ray equipment to create images of the human body for diagnostic purposes. They position patients, adjust equipment settings, and ensure radiation safety protocols are followed. They work closely with radiologists to provide clear and accurate images for diagnosis.
Shifts center on preparing and positioning patients, operating imaging and mobile x-ray units, and setting exposure time and distance for each requested exam. You explain procedures, apply radiation protection, process or digitize images, and review them in PACS to decide whether repeats are necessary. Between scans you monitor patients for reactions, maintain equipment, and coordinate with physicians and nursing to keep studies timely and diagnostic.
