During the event you monitor incoming and outgoing feeds, switch video sources if needed, record the show, and fix any glitches. Afterward you dismantle systems, log inventory updates in Microsoft Excel or Access, and store equipment for the next job.

Expect to use Windows tools like Microsoft PowerPoint for presentations, Outlook and Teams for scheduling and communication, and Excel or Access for inventory and logs. For graphics you’ll use Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.

For remote meetings and shows you’ll work with Cisco Webex or Microsoft Teams, and for recording or switching you’ll be on dedicated AV consoles and computers often running Linux or specialized software.

IT people focus on networks, servers, and software deployment. You will touch networking (feeds, streaming) but your tasks are hands-on gear, mixing, troubleshooting equipment, and producing audio/video content, not maintaining enterprise servers.

AI can help with tasks like automatic transcription, noise reduction, captioning, and quick graphic templates using Photoshop or Illustrator plugins. Use AI to speed editing and to draft captions or show scripts.

Don’t trust AI for critical live decisions: it can mis-transcribe or change audio quality unexpectedly. Always verify generated captions, keep original recordings, and follow client policies about recorded content and privacy.
