The four heights

The same task, four distances: today's deadline, the next reviewer, the stuck moment, the pattern.

Execute — do the immediate task

Export the last 90 days of sessions, users, source/medium, landing page, and transactions to a CSV and drop it into the shared drive folder Finance/Exports. Name the file Ecommerce_90d_Export.csv and include a header row with metric definitions. Confirm the export covers the full date range and that sampled data is noted, then tell me the file location.

Improve — make it easier to accept

Before I export data for the analysts, make the CSV easier to use: ensure dimensions are separated into their own columns (source and medium split), include full landing page URLs rather than fragments, and append a data-quality row that states whether sampling occurred and what filters were applied. Flag any rows where transactions are zero but revenue is present.

Decide — diagnose the stuck moment

I exported CSV but finance says conversions are missing

I pulled the last 90 days into a CSV and uploaded Ecommerce_90d_Export.csv to the shared drive; finance says conversion counts are off. I’m worried I exported the wrong view or had filters that removed conversions; I don’t know which view they expect. What quick checks will tell me whether the export or the view caused the missing conversions, and the fastest fix if it’s the export?

Become — change the pattern

We repeatedly re-export data because analysts find issues

Analysts keep asking for re-exports because columns are wrong, URLs are partial, or sampling warnings are missing. Where do we keep dropping the ball — in the export template, naming rules, or handoffs — and what two changes to our export habit would save the team time and reduce back-and-forth?

Other web analytics work people do in Google Analytics.

Every task here came from the work, not from a feature list — which is why the prompts name what you want done and never the button that does it. The tool changes; the work does not.
