Add captions to images

I have ten images in the draft for the quarterly report that need captions before we share with stakeholders. Add a concise caption under each image that names the figure (Figure 1, Figure 2), states what it shows in one short sentence, and flags source or date when known. Keep captions to one line so the layout doesn’t reflow across pages. Do the images in document order and stop if any image file looks like a duplicate.

Before I send this to marketing, make the images easier to read and reference. Move captions directly beneath each picture, start each caption with Figure and a sequential number, pull any alt-text into the caption, and bold the key datapoint or takeaway. If a caption would exceed one line, shorten it and add a parenthetical ‘see appendix’ note.

I pasted five charts into the report and the editor shows them inline with no captions. The reviewers will want to reference each chart in comments and the print layout must keep captions attached. I don’t know if the charts retained alt-text and I can’t tell if any are duplicates. What’s the quickest, least error-prone way to add accurate, numbered captions now so reviewers can cite them and the PDF export won’t break layout?

Every quarter we finish a draft with images but I always get pushed into last-minute captioning during review, which creates errors and delays. Where in my workflow should I add a single reliable habit so captions are correct, numbered, and have sources before the first stakeholder review? Recommend one change to who does it, when it happens in the schedule, and a two-step checklist to enforce it.
